FAQs

Xpact delivers online 1-to-1 mentoring and alternative provision for children, young people, and adults. We specialise in emotional wellbeing, confidence-building, SEN identity support, and social/communication development. Gaming is used as an engagement tool—not the focus—but a familiar, low-demand space where trust, conversation and growth can happen naturally.

Xpact is not a therapeutic or clinical service. We provide mentoring, alternative provision, emotional support, guidance, and positive role-modelling through a relational, person-led approach. Young people and adults we support open up at their own pace while feeling safe, respected, and free from pressure. Our sessions often act as early intervention, or as long-term relational support alongside school or other provision.

Yes. Xpact offers structured, session-based alternative provision through our mentoring model. We support pupils who:

  • struggle to attend school
  • require EOTAS provision
  • need low demand learning environments
  • need consistent relational support
  • require SEN understanding
  • benefit from digital, interest-led approaches

Our long-term Progression Package is particularly suited to alternative provision placements and relationship-based interventions.

Sessions are delivered virtually through gaming platforms or video/voice/text chat depending on what the young person prefers. Mentors meet young people “where they are”, using games or shared interests to build rapport, support reflection, encourage communication, and foster positive emotional development. Over time, support happens organically and naturally through play, discussion, and shared tasks.

Xpact mentors are experienced practitioners with strong skills in SEN support, emotional wellbeing, and online engagement. Our team includes individuals trained in working with autistic young people, those with ADHD, PDA, anxiety, trauma, grief or school-based aversion. All mentors have:

  • Enhanced DBS
  • Safeguarding and Online Safety training
  • Training in working with vulnerable and neurodivergent young people
  • Experience using gaming and digital tools to build connection

We offer single sessions and packages. See our Programmes & Prices page for up to date prices.

A standard session is 55 minutes.
This gives enough space for meaningful engagement, with time reserved for note-writing and communication with parents/carers or commissioning bodies when needed. We recommend at least one hour per week for maximum benefit.
Yes. Alongside mentoring, Xpact can support:

  • game design
  • coding
  • animation
  • video editing

Skills, education, and qualifications are delivered in an interest-led, demand-free way. Learning happens naturally through curiosity, connection, and shared exploration—not forced lessons.
We follow whatever the young person is most comfortable with:

  • voice chat
  • video chat
  • text chat
  • in-game communication (emotes, messages, character actions)

We use platforms such as zoom. For console sessions, built-in chat can be used. For PC, mobile or Switch we use platforms like Google Meet or (13+ only) Discord. Communication can evolve over time as confidence grows.

Absolutely. Some individuals benefit from a few months of mentoring, while many thrive with sustained support over years. Our Progression Package is specifically designed for long-term engagement, allowing strong relationships, consistent guidance, and meaningful personal development—particularly for young people in care, those experiencing trauma, or those needing stable adult connection.

Xpact works with young people with SEN, SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism, PDA, anxiety, trauma, school avoidance, identity struggles, care experience, social communication challenges and anyone who would benefit from support and guidance. We tailor support to each person’s pace and preferences.

No. Gaming is an option—not a requirement. Some young people prefer creative projects, chat-based sessions, digital art, or structured skill-building instead.

Mentoring can support confidence, emotional regulation, communication skills, resilience, reduce anxiety, identity exploration, school reintegration, improved online awareness, and stronger relationships. It can assist with transitions, support day to day functioning, promote emotional and social wellbeing.

A device (console, computer, tablet or phone) and a stable internet connection. We will guide you on platform setup.

Yes. We partner with schools, specialist provisions and local authorities across the UK, delivering mentoring, alternative provision, early intervention, and long-term support.

Every person is different. Some show early improvements in communication or confidence; others make progress gradually. Our focus is long-term, relational, steady support.

Let us know. We will review the fit and, if required, rematch the young person with another mentor.
