Support for Parents & Caregivers

From simple advice to reporting, planning, diagnosis, or even help with the funding process. Xpact can offer support for parents and caregivers in many ways.

A Calmer way to support your child

When your child is anxious, overwhelmed, avoiding school, or simply finding the world “too much”, it can feel like everything falls on you; the worry, the meetings, the decisions, the paperwork.

Xpact offers one-to-one online programmes that support young people through the games and interests they already enjoy. Sessions are low-pressure, child-led, and professionally guided, helping your child feel safe enough to build confidence, emotional resilience, social skills, and (where appropriate) learning habits.

We aim to bring clarity and reassurance, without adding more pressure to your week.

Built by people who get it

Xpact was created by a parent of children with autism, and a healthcare professional. So we understand two sides of the same reality:

  • what it’s like at home, day after day

  • what good, ethical support should look like in practice

That perspective shapes everything we do; calm, respectful, consistent support that’s designed around real children and real family life.

Why gaming can be a brilliant bridge

For many young people, face-to-face support feels intense. Gaming offers a familiar space where connection can happen more naturally.

Because the focus is shared (the game), children often find it easier to:

  • communicate without feeling “on the spot”

  • take social first-steps without eye contact pressure

  • stay regulated while they build trust

  • practise real-world skills through real moments

This isn’t a games club. It’s structured support that simply starts in a place your child already feels comfortable.

What makes Xpact different

Child-led, low-demand support

We follow your child’s pace and interests so growth feels safe, not forced.

One-to-one consistency

A consistent mentor/tutor allows trust to build and support to stay responsive.

Designed for inclusion

Gaming can reduce the impact of social, verbal, or processing differences, which can make connection easier.

Purposeful, not random

We’re always noticing, guiding, and encouraging skills that matter outside the screen too.

Games We Support

We work with familiar titles such as Minecraft®, Roblox®, Fortnite® and Chess; or tell us your child’s favourites. We use their interests as the bridge to confidence, connection, and progress.

A calmer way to support your child

When your child is anxious, overwhelmed, avoiding school, or simply finding the world “too much”, it can feel like everything falls on you — the worry, the meetings, the decisions, the paperwork.

Built by someone who gets it

Xpact was created by a parent of children with autism and a healthcare professional.

So we understand two sides of the same reality:

  • what it’s like at home, day after day

  • what good, ethical support should look like in practice

That perspective shapes everything we do — calm, respectful, consistent support that’s designed around real children and real family life.

Who we help

Every young person is different, but our programmes often suit children and teens who are experiencing:

  • autism / ADHD traits or other neurodivergence

  • anxiety, shutdowns, overwhelm, or low mood

  • school avoidance or difficulties with attendance

  • social challenges, low confidence, or isolation

  • frustration, emotional outbursts, or “stuck” behaviours

  • difficulty with focus, motivation, routines, or transitions

If your child doesn’t fit neatly into a box, that’s okay. Many don’t.

Why gaming can be a brilliant bridge

For many young people, face-to-face support feels intense. Gaming offers a familiar space where connection can happen more naturally.

Because the focus is shared (the game), children often find it easier to:

  • communicate without feeling “on the spot”

  • take social first-steps without eye contact pressure

  • stay regulated while they build trust

This isn’t a games club. It’s structured support that simply starts in a place your child already feels comfortable.

What makes Xpact different

Child-led, low-demand support

We follow your child’s pace and interests so growth feels safe, not forced.

One-to-one consistency

A consistent mentor/tutor allows trust to build and support to stay responsive.

Designed for inclusion

Gaming can reduce the impact of social, verbal, or processing differences — which can make connection easier.

Purposeful, not random

We’re always noticing, guiding, and encouraging skills that matter outside the screen too.

Programmes: mentoring, tutoring, or blended

Depending on the programme you choose, support may be:

  • mentoring-focused (confidence, wellbeing, social/emotional growth)

  • tutoring-focused (learning support and engagement)

  • blended (a carefully balanced combination)

We’ll help you choose a programme that fits your child’s needs and your goals — without overpromising or pushing.

What a session looks like

55 minutes, one-to-one, online

Your mentor/tutor joins your child in-game in a calm, supported way. Sessions are guided by your child’s interests, while we gently encourage progress through real moments such as:

  • taking turns and negotiating

  • managing frustration and setbacks

  • problem-solving and strategy

  • patience, effort, and perseverance

  • teamwork and communication

  • focus and follow-through

Progress often starts small — but those small wins can be the beginning of bigger change.

What you might notice over time

Parents and carers often report changes like:

  • fewer daily battles and a calmer tone at home

  • improved confidence and willingness to engage

  • better emotional regulation and recovery after setbacks

  • more positive communication (even if gradual at first)

  • stronger motivation, focus, and perseverance

  • a renewed sense of “they can do this”

We keep expectations realistic and the support consistent.

Support for you, too

Many families value the fact that Xpact becomes a reliable point of support in the week.

It can offer:

  • meaningful respite while your child is genuinely engaged

  • a calmer routine you can build around

  • reassurance that support is purposeful (not just “keeping them busy”)

  • the option to sit nearby, observe, or simply breathe

Optional professional reporting (paid add-on)

If you need a clearer record for planning or review periods, we offer professional reporting as an optional paid add-on.

Reports can include:

  • observed strengths and emerging skills

  • key moments (e.g., turn-taking, frustration tolerance, problem-solving)

  • development areas and practical recommendations

  • gentle next steps you can try at home and in future sessions

This can be useful for discussions and planning such as EHCP reviews, PEPs, care planning, and other professional meetings.

Help exploring funding options (and with applications)

If funding is part of your situation, we can help you:

  • explore potential routes and options

  • understand what information may be needed

  • support you with the application process where appropriate

This often removes a big chunk of stress, especially when you’re already juggling a lot.

Safeguarding and online safety (brief, reassuring)

Issues are rare — but we take safety seriously.

We provide peace of mind through:

  • DBS-checked mentors with safeguarding training

  • designated safeguarding leads and clear escalation routes

  • agreed boundaries, including voice/chat expectations

  • robust safeguarding and online safety policies

  • responsible handling of personal data and records

(Links to full policy documents can sit here for anyone who wants the detail.)

I think we need to discuss this with Mary & Ed. There is good content in here that we can use, but there’s a lot of repeated content again and I personally think we need to use the content below to turn it into benefits for the parent/caregiver.
